Newquay town guide
On the north coast of Cornwall, Newquay is probably the best place for surfing in England. The town boasts magnificent beaches and vast stretches of beautiful sand. Behind the beach area stand tall cliffs with exciting caves for the intrepid to explore.
The long Atlantic rollers provide great sport for the surfers, although wet suits are a necessity. Newquay is home to the British Surfing Competitions. At the National Surfing Centre you can also take surfing lessons.
Newquay Zoo is a perfect day out for all the family. Fabulous outdoor and indoor fun pools are to be found at Oasis at Hendra - fun in the wet!
With cheap flights now available between London and Newquay it has become an accessible weekend destination. From here you can also fly on to the Scilly Isles - a flight of only 30 minutes - a pleasant daytrip.
A hire car will take you from here to the delights of nearby Bodmin Moor where you can explore the Bodmin and Wenford Railway.
The world-renowned Eden Project is also close by - home to thousands of plants in two enormous giant bubbles called Biomes-two of the largest greenhouses in the world.
Also visit the National Seal Sanctuary, Goonhilly Satellite Earth Station or Geevor Tin Mine - only a car ride away from Newquay.
