MONTCHANIN
Montchanin is a suburb of Dijon where there are several reasonably priced hotels. Visitors by hire car will undoubtedly want to go into the mustard capital of the the mustard capital of the world.
The Dukes of Burgundy used Dijon as a capital and there are signs of the wealth that they brought to it wherever you look. There are several very good Art Galleries, Flemish artists in the Musée de Beaux Arts, religious art in the Musée d'Art Sacre and nineteenth century art in the Musée National
Magnin. There is also the inevitable Musée de la Moutarde and an excellent museum of life in the region at the Musée de la Vie Bourguignonne.
The town itself is smart and modern and reflects the style of the university which is situated there. After a stroll around the elegant streets visit one of the parks, in particular Jardin d'Arquebuse with its streams and pools.
Park your hire car safely before settling down to a really good meal which must be the real reason for stopping in Dijon!
