Langon town guide
Visitors by hire car will find Langon on the edges of both Brittany and the Vendee. In an area which reflects the cultures and climates of both areas. It makes a good tourist base and is often less crowded than either the coastal vendee area or the South Coast of Brittany. Langon itself is a small agricultural community close to the better known Fontenay le Comte with its medieval centre. It is only a forty minute drive in your hire car to the Atlantic Coast where you can enjoy the fine beaches and the sea warmed by the Gulf Stream.
Families will enjoy the nearby theme park at Le Puy de Foy where you can enjoy the medieval experience including jousting knights and gladiators. Afterwards you can stroll round La Rochelle and enjoy a meal in one of the many restaurants available.
Use your hire car and take to the country lanes; this is an area where you can drive all day without seeing another vehicle. Stop in some of the little villages that you will discover and try the plat de jour from the local café. You might be surprised not only by the quality but also how inexpensive they are.
