Set high in the Pyrenees this tiny co-principality on the border between France and Spain has been ruled since 1278 by both France and Spain. Andorra's 70,00 population has lived since 1993 in a modern democracy, where the heads of state are the President of France and the Bishop of Seo de Urgel in Spain.
Driving on the left hand side of the road may be a new experience for some visitors as may well be the use of kilometres to measure distance - one good thing about using a rental car is that it will be adapted to local conditions with the steering on the right hand side and the speedometer marked in kilometres per hour.
The availability of rentals cars is very good in Andorra and there is usually no problem in arranging for a hire to be driven in France or Spain, something that is difficult to avoid given the size of Andorra.
The speed limits in Andorra are:
On roads not showing any lower restriction the limit is 90 kilometres per hour. That's 55 miles per hour. In towns the limit is 60 kilometres per hour, or 37 miles per hour.

Persons under the age of 18 years are not allowed to drive in Andorra even though they may hold a driving licence issued in another country.
The wearing of seat belts is compulsory.
Before you drive away check that your hire car has a warning triangle as these are compulsory in Andorra
